	Marc Reift Conductor English: Marc Reift was born in Fleurier (Switzerland) on 14th August 1955, both parents being ministers in the Salvation Army. He was surrounded by music from earliest childhood. Even as a toddler, he regularly listened to Chopin, Verdi and Beethoven, and as a teenager he tried his hand at the piano, the guitar, the organ, the accordion, drums and the trombone. He started studying at Bern Conservatoire at the age of 18, where he obtained a trombone teaching diploma and a soloist's diploma (Prof. Branimir Slokar). He later obtained a concert diploma in Cologne. In 1977 he received the Habitzel prize, and in 1996 the Suisa Foundation Prize. He was also a prize-winner at the international competitions in Vercelli and Geneva. He became a member of the Biel Symphony Orchestra at the age of 20, before moving to the Bern Symphony Orchestra and finally becoming first trombone in the Tonhalle Opera Orchestra in Zurich, where he remained for more than 15 years, playing under many of the most illustrious conductors of the time. During this period he taught many trombone pupils and wrote several tutors. He toured more than 30 different countries with various ensembles, such as pop groups, big bands and particularly the Slokar Trombone Quartet. In 1983 he founded his own publishing company which now has more than 40,000 titles in its catalogue, as well as the CD production company Marcophon. He has conducted and recorded more than 4000 pieces with the London Wind Orchestra, the Philharmonic Wind Orchestra, The Williams Fairey Brass Band, the Prague Festival Strings, the Prague Pops Orchestra, the Prague Festival Orchestra as well as with his own orchestra, the Marc Reift Orchestra. Er war auch Preisträger bei den internationalen Wettbewerben in Vercelli und Genf. Mit 20 war er Mitglied des Bieler Symphonieorchesters. Danach spielte er im Berner Symphonieorchester, und wurde schliesslich Soloposaune im Zürcher Opernorchester (Tonhalle), wo er mehr als 15 Jahre tätig war, und unter der Leitung von vielen der berühmtesten Dirigenten der Epoche spielte. Während dieser Zeit unterrichtete er auch zahlreiche Posaunenschüler und schuf pädagogische Werke. Er hat mit verschiedenen Ensembles, einschliesslich dem Slokar-Posaunenquartett in mehr als 30 Ländern gespielt. 1983 gründete er seinen eigenen Verlag, dessen Katalog jetzt mehr als 40'000 Titel enthält, sowie den Tonträgerproduzenten Marcophon. Haut comme 3 pommes, il découvre déjà Chopin, Verdi et Beethoven. Adolescent, le piano, la guitare, la contrebasse, l'orgue, l'accordéon, la batterie et le trombone sont ses compagnons de route. Entré au Conservatoire à l'âge de 18 ans, il obtient avec succès ses diplômes de Professeur de trombone et de Virtuosité à Berne ainsi que sa licence de Concert à Cologne (Prof. Branimir Slokar). En 1977 il reçoit le prix Habitzel et en 1996 le prix de la Fondation SUISA. Il est également lauréat des Concours Internationaux de Vercelli et de Genève. Entré à l'orchestre de Bienne à 20 ans, puis à l'Orchestre Symphonique de Berne, il est ensuite nommé Trombone Solo à l'Orchestre de l'Opéra de Zürich. Il y reste actif pendant plus de 15 ans et joue sous la direction des plus grands chefs d'orchestre de l'époque. Pendant cette période il enseigne le trombone à de nombreux élèves et écrit plusieurs méthodes pédagogiques. Il sillonne plus d'une trentaine de pays avec différentes formations (Pop, Big Band, Quatuor de Trombones Slokar….) En 1983 il fonde sa propre maison d'édition qui compte actuellement plus de 40'000 titres et sa production de CDs Marcophon. Il a dirigé et enregistré plus de 4'000 œuvres avec le London Wind Orchestra, le Philharmonic Wind Orchestra, le Brass Band Williams Fairey, le Prague Festival Strings, le Prague Pops Orchestra, le Prague Festival Orchestra ainsi qu'avec son propre orchestre, le Marc Reift Orchestra.
